Crown Devon Jug- Circa 1930’s-1950’s

Description

Large Crown Devon Jug with golf motifs decorated in a blue glaze and two quotes: ‘ONE DOWN AND TWO TO GO’ and ‘IF AT FIRST YOU DON’T SUCCED TRY, TRY AGAIN’. Fine condition, measures 8 1/2″ high x 7″ inches wide. Crown Devon pottery was established in Stoke-on-Trent in the early 1870s but it wasn’t until after the First World War that the pottery started mass producing items. This example is their one known golfing piece.
