About
Old Sport & Gallery was founded out of Tom Stewart’s love and passion for the game of golf.
Tom Stewart has studied its history, art and literature for most of his life. Tom Stewart is a Life Member of the PGA of America who has competed, taught and written about the game in over 30 countries. He grew up caddying and playing at a club in Northern Michigan where Walter Hagen had been the first professional. While traveling and playing professionally in the United States, the Asian, Australian – New Zealand and South American Tours, Mr. Stewart managed to accumulate one of the most significant art, book and artifact collections ever assembled in one place.
After a long career in golf, Tom, his wife Ilana and son Bryan have set up shop in the historical “Home of American Golf” in the Village of Pinehurst, North Carolina. The Gallery occupies most of the first floor of the historical Harvard Hotel Building founded in 1898.
The Old Sport & Gallery is part art gallery, bookshop, and memorabilia museum of all that makes golf great. Stewart has published and/or written three best selling books on the art and history of the game and is now working on a fourth. Old Sport & Gallery has won awards or recognition from such sources as Golf Digest, Sports Illustrated, Travel & Leisure, Golf Week, The Golf Channel, Fine Living Channel, and The New York Times and from several news-wire services.
